The information in the database behind the shapefile is usually entered by a person, and people make mistakes.
If a word is misspelt, the user can change its spelling, regardless of whether a correctly spelt version of it already exists in the word list or not.
To correct a word's spelling, select the word in the WordList Editor, and click "Correct Word Spelling".
For the user's reference, all unique occurrences of this word in the current field are displayed for inspection.
Once the correct spelling of the word has been entered, a click on the "Update" button will complete the operation.
Both original and corrected spellings of the word will be included in the WordList Reports which can be printed using LegendBurster's Report Generator. In the most comprehensive of these, "WordList: Status with Comments", the related words are cross-referenced in the "Related Words" field (example). Words incorrectly spelt are given the status "spellingcornew", and the correction is given the status "newspelling".
