Introducing the Comparison Results Panel

The Comparison Results Panel displays the match results for either

(1)   Focus instance against selected models

(2)   Focus instance against selected instances, or

(3)   Focus model against selected instances.

There are several components in the panel:

(1) Match objects combo box           Click on this combo box to select a match object (either an instance or model, depending on the type of matching) to view the comparison results between this match object and the query object.

(2) View order of matching button   Click on this button to view the overall rankings for each of the match objects against the query object.

(3) View in new  window                    Click on this checkbox so that the next time you select a match object from the match objects combo box, the comparison results will be displayed in a new window.

(4) Rank of selected match object   The rank of the selected match object with respect to other objects compared to the query object.

(5) View advice button                        Click on this button to invoke another window that displays advice on how additional or changed information might change the quality of the match (and hence, the ranking).

(6) Show all inherited node items    Click on this checkbox to show all inherited node items which would otherwise be hidden.  By default, inherited attributes are only visible if they are matched or mismatched during the matching process.

(7) Match object window                   This window shows the attributes of the "match object" as compared to the "query object". Matches are in green, conflicts in red.  Facts neither matching nor conflicting are in white. Double clicking on any of the highlighted items in this window will pop up a small message explaining what has been matched or in conflict.

(8) Query object window                   This window shows the attributes of the "query object" as compared to the "match object". Matches are in green, conflicts in red.  Facts neither matching nor conflicting are in white. Double clicking on any of the highlighted items in this window will pop up a small message explaining what has been matched or in conflict.

Understanding Comparison Results

In the results window, there are two description windows: (1) query object window, and (2) match object window.  These windows display the details of the query object and match object; in addition, they use colour to show which items have been matched and mismatched.

(1) Compared Value, Compared Freq

These two columns display the corresponding value and frequency of the compared model or instance(s).  They are only filled when there are matched or in-conflict items.

(2) MatchType

There are several match/conflict types that may be recognised:

(a) exact

The values are the same for a common attribute.

(b) exactAKO

One of the values is a kind of the other for a common attribute.

(c) freq

The values ar ethe same for a common attribute, but the frequencies are in conflict.

(d) freqAKO

One of the values is a kind of the other for a common attribute, but the frequencies are in conflict.

(e) AKOAttexact

The values are the same for a common root attribute. (Note that some attributes might be different, but they derive from the same general attribute.)

(f) AKOAttfreq

The values are the same for a common root attribute, but the frequencies are in conflict. (Note that some attributes might be different, but they derive from the same general attribute.)

(g) exactComp

The composite group has been matched completely.

(h) mismatchComp

The composite group has a conflict item.
