Opening a LegendBurster Project

On start-up, LegendBurster presents this menu bar:

and the following two buttons:

When starting work with a new ESRI shapefile, click on "New Project".  Click on Open Project to open an already existing LegendBurster project.

The "New Project" button pops up the following screen, whose active areas are described below::

  1. The name for the new project.  This name will be embedded in the names of the files used by the project.

  2. The directory in which the new project files are to be stored.

  3. In this area the system displays the full path and name of the project file.

  4. Field to receive the full path and name of the shapefile (.shp) to be used for the project.

  5. Radio buttons to control a selection between creating a new copy of the shapefile for the project, or using the already existing file.  In this context, "shapefile" refers to the .shp file, as well as its accompanying .dbf table.  Advice is provided as to when to choose which option.
